<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article summarizes the reflections on the meaning of reading by the contemporary Canadian philosopher Robert Piercey. The study showed on what grounds this particular philosophical practice was built. The heuristic of his arguments in favor of reading as an important sociocultural phenomenon is assessed, and Piercey’s vision of the future of reading in the era of digital technology dominance is presented.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>чтение</kwd><kwd>восприятие</kwd><kwd>текст</kwd><kwd>текстуальное значение</kwd><kwd>философская практика</kwd><kwd>Роберт Пирси</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>reading</kwd><kwd>perception</kwd><kwd>text</kwd><kwd>textual meaning</kwd><kwd>philosophical practice</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Вульф В.
