В статье кратко изложены размышления о значении чтения современного канадского философа Роберта Пирси. Рассмотрена его ключевая мысль, что чтение – это особая философская практика, показано, на каких философско-методологических основаниях она построена, дана оценка эвристичности представленных философом аргументов в пользу чтения как важного социокультурного явления, а также представлено видение Пирси будущего практики чтения в эпоху доминирования цифровых технологий.

The article summarizes the reflections on the meaning of reading by the contemporary Canadian philosopher Robert Piercey. The study showed on what grounds this particular philosophical practice was built. The heuristic of his arguments in favor of reading as an important sociocultural phenomenon is assessed, and Piercey’s vision of the future of reading in the era of digital technology dominance is presented.
