Abstract
The article examines the current state and development trends of the book industry in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) from 2017 to 2025. The relevance of the work is determined by the need to overcome the "statistical blindness" regarding regional book publishing, the data on which in all-Russian summaries is often significantly underestimated, and by the importance of studying the unique adaptive models emerging in the national subjects of the Russian Federation under the influence of digital transformation and market centralization. The aim of the study is to identify the structural characteristics and key trends of Yakutia's publishing complex through the prism of its adaptation to all-Russian challenges and the fulfillment of a specific cultural mission. Based on a comprehensive analysis of state statistics on the republic's press and materials from the leading publishing holding company, the Joint-Stock Company National Publishing Company Ayar named after S. A. Novgorodov (hereinafter referred to as JSC NIC Ayar), a specific regional model that had emerged by the mid-2020s was identified and characterized. The model is defined by high market concentration around a single system-forming publishing house, the dominance of national-language content, and the simultaneous development of digitalization and product diversification strategies. It has been established that the sustainability of this model is based on deep niche specialization, which allows it to adapt to the challenges of the periphery, but gives rise to systemic contradictions between the mission of preserving cultural heritage and the requirements of economic efficiency. The practical significance of the work lies in providing an objective analytical basis for the formation of regional cultural and economic policy in the field of book publishing, as well as in the possibility of using the identified Yakut model for comparative analysis with other national regions of Russia.
